Career

By the age of four years, the son of an officer of Exxon in DeRidder, Louisiana lived and then moved with his family to a suburb of Houston, Texas. With six years Cagle began to take guitar lessons, but this was after some time, since his hands were too small for the classical concert guitar. During his high school years, he began playing the piano and soon took again the guitar in his hand.

Cagle enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington one, but he spent more and more time with evening performances at clubs, until he gave 19 his studies to devote himself entirely to music. In 1994, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked on his songwriting, including with the help of songwriter Harlan Howard, who eventually also published Cagles first song.

Some years later, Cagle met the producer Donna Duarte, whom he invited to attend the recordings of some demo tapes. Duarte then presented Cagles songs their employer Scott Hendricks, president of Virgin Records Nashville, the Cagle took them under contract.

When Virgin Records closed its country division, Cagle moved to Capitol Records in Nashville, where he recorded his first album Play It Loud released in 2001. This was followed by his first No. 1 hit in the country charts with the song I Breathe In, I Breathe Out, as well as other albums in the years 2003, 2005.

Cagles fourth studio album titled My Life 's Been a Country Song was released in February 2008.

In May 2008, Cagle was arrested in Nashville for assault on his girlfriend.
