Chris Renaud (animator)

Chris Renaud (born 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland) is an American comic book artist, film director and storyboard artist.

Life

After he had successfully completed his studies in 1989 in Illustration from Syracuse University, he moved to New York City to make a career as a cartoonist. In 1993 he started at Marvel Comics. From 1996 to 1998 he drew the series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy for Marvel Comics. He also worked for DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics.

In 2000 he moved to television and was involved in animated TV series, such as a draftsman for The Book of Pooh. Later he designed the series It's a Big Big World.

In 2004, he applied to the computer animation studio Blue Sky Studios. He was hired as a storyboard artist and as such was at the movies Robots and Ice Age 2: The Meltdown involved. As a Blue Sky for a story about the squirrel Scrat for a short film sought, which on the DVD Ice Age 2: The Meltdown should be included, he laid one before. This was chosen and he, engaged together with Mike Thurm eggs as a director. The six-minute film entitled No Time for Nuts arose from December 2005 to June 2006. During the Academy Awards ceremony in 2007, he was finally nominated as " Best Animated Short Film ," the Annie Award he won in the same category.

In 2010, he led, together with Pierre Coffin who directed the animated film I - Despicable. Even with his successor I - Despicable Me 2 from the year 2013 took Coffin and Renaud directed the film.
