Chris Walden

Chris Walden ( born October 10, 1966 in Hamburg ) is a German jazz musician, composer and arranger.

Life and work

Chris Walden was born in Hamburg in 1966 into a musical family, and learned at an early age trumpet and piano playing. Already during his school years, he began with the arranging of Big Band music. In 1988 he was part of the founding generation of the German Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer, which aided him in the subsequent period.

Walden studied conducting and arranging in Cologne, and completed his studies in 1994. Then he conducted, among others, the RIAS Big Band. He began by arranging film music, first as an assistant and arranger of Herbolzheimer for the film Schtonk, and later as the sole composer, here especially for German TV series.

1996 Walden walked out to Los Angeles to pursue more film scoring for film productions. In 1999 he formed his own big band. He has, inter alia, as an arranger and composer worked for David Foster, Paul Anka, Barbra Streisand, Michael Bolton and Sheryl Crow.

Walden is married and has two children. He lives with his family in Los Angeles.
