Christian Ackermann

Christian Ackermann ( * before 1670 in Königsberg; † after 1710 in Tallinn) was an agent working in Estonia sculptors and woodcarvers.

Life and work

Christian Ackermann came from Königsberg. He worked in Riga, Stockholm and Gdansk, before he was active from about 1672 until his death in Tallinn. 1675 Ackermann city citizens of Tallinn and was the owner of his own workshop. He probably died in 1710 or shortly thereafter in Tallinn, on the plague.

Christian Ackermann was one of the most important masters of the High Baroque in Estonia. He brought strong Central European art influences to North Eastern Europe, particularly the motif of the Baroque and masterful acanthus ornamentation.
