Koeru Parish

Koeru ( Koeru vald ) ( German St. Mary Magdalene ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Järva with an area of ​​236.8 km ². It has 2 315 inhabitants (as of December 2010).

In addition to the main town Koeru ( 1073 inhabitants) belong to the municipality the villages Abaya, Aruküla, Ervita, Jõeküla, Kalitsa, Kapu, Koidu - Ellavere, Kuusna, Laaneotsa, Luisvere, Merja, Norra, Preedi, Puhmu, rohu, Salutaguse, Santovi, Tammiku, Tudre, Udeva, Vahuküla, Valila, Vao, Visusti, Vuti and Väinjärve.

The parish of Koeru is the first time in 1282 is documented. The Maria Magdalena Church of Koeru was ordained in 1288, later expanded and today with her 43.5 m high tower, the most famous landmark of the community.
