Albu Parish

Albu ( German: Alp ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian county Järva with an area of 257 km ². It has 1401 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2010).

The rural community located 28 km from Paid removed. In addition to the main town Järva - Madise to the municipality includes the villages Ageri, aHula, Albu Kaalepi, Lehtmetsa, Mägede, Mõnuvere, Neitla, Orgmetsa, Peedu, Pullevere, Seidla, Soosalu, Sugalepa and Vetepere.

Albu was first mentioned in documents in 1282. Many mansions were built in the 16th and 17th centuries in the area. Worth seeing, especially the well-preserved mansion from Albu, one of the oldest in Estonia, as well as the 13th-century St. Matthew Church in Järva - Madise. In Vetepere is the birthplace of the Estonian national author Anton Hansen Tammsaare, which today serves as a museum. The area is ideal for hiking and canoeing.
