Christian Bassila

Christian Armel Bassila (born 5 October 1977 in Paris ) is a French former football player with Congolese passport.

Career

The defensive midfielder, who can also be used in central defense, began in 1983 as U.S. Créteil playing football. In 1992 he moved to the youth department of Olympique Lyon, where he succeeded in 1996, the leap into the professional squad. Until 1999, he graduated from 44 matches and scored two goals.

For the season 1999 /00 Bassila joined Stade Rennes, where in 24 games he scored a goal to August 2000. Then he was at first, then given until 2001 to West Ham United until 2002 to Racing Strasbourg. After the Strasbourg attracted a purchase option, Bassila played until 2005 in Alsace. Overall, he completed 122 appearances for Racing and met ten times.

The following season spent Bassila at Sunderland, whom he left in 2006 towards AE Larisa in the summer. With Larisa Bassila won the Greek Cup. It was the first Cup win since 1985 and only the second overall in the club's history of AEL. In the final they beat Panathinaikos 2-1. This Bassila played over the full 90 minutes. For 2007/ 08 the Frenchman joins Energie Cottbus, where he signed a contract dated before 2009. His Bundesliga debut in the defensive player on Matchday 4 of the season, on 1 September 2007 in a 1-1 draw against 1 FC Nuremberg. Soon Bassila developed a regular place in the middle of the Lusatian. At the end of the season energy secured the league. In 2008, after he received no more attention early in the season, the midfielder joined shortly before transfer circuit free transfer to his home to second division Guingamp, with whom he won the French Cup in May 2009. He led his team in the final against Stade Rennes at the captain. In the league it ran worse and Guingamp had to fight to the end of the season to avoid relegation.

The following season they played by the Cup victory in the UEFA Europa League. There you did not begin until the play-off, but failed on the German giants Hamburger SV. After a 1:5 in the first leg in Guingamp they lost the return match in Hamburg 1-2. National

Christian Bassila 2006 received an invitation to the Congolese national team. However, he was not allowed to compete for the African country because of the FIFA regulations, since he had already begun for the U- 21 team of France.
