Christian Grube

Christian Grube ( born September 20, 1934 in Hannover ) is a German choral conductor and university lecturer.

After his schooling pit studied in Hanover at the Academy of Music and Drama and at the School of Church Music school and church music with a double major in conducting, organ, vocals, flute and Renaissance instruments. Already during his studies he was a hot and experienced oratorio soloist. In addition, he organized choral workshops in Germany and Switzerland.

After completion of both courses he took up his first job as a cantor at St. Michael's Church in Hildesheim; at the same time he began teaching at the high school Andreanum.

1973 pit, now teacher, was appointed professor of choral conducting at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin and director of the State and the cathedral choir. True to his name he bears since the early 20th century, the Heads of State and Cathedral Choir sang Grube line not only regularly in religious services in the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, and in particular ecclesial events, but also to state celebrations. Thus, the Heads of State and Cathedral Choir was the choir that had 1990 honor to sing at the official broadcast all over the world celebrations of German reunification.

Herbert Hildebrandt, then head of the (East ) Berlin Cathedral Choir had always believed in the unification and therefore deliberately founded his Domkantorei as mixed and not as a boys' choir. Due to the friendly relations between him and Christian Grube, who already culminated in the time before liberation in a joint concert in East Berlin, succeeded pit after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Cathedral Choir returns to its original home, the Berlin Cathedral, due.

His students have become school music teacher, Dirigierprofessoren and opera singers in different countries. An entire generation of singers, not only in the Berlin choirs, learned in the course of 30 years at Christian pit or in the choruses of his students. 2010 was awarded to him in recognition of outstanding contributions to the choir for life siblings Mendelssohn medal.

Arvo Pärt devoted his now famous Magnificat Christian Grube and the Heads of State and Cathedral Choir, after he had won the first prize at the German Choir Competition. Mine directed the Heads of State and Cathedral Choir in Maurice Jarre's score for Out of Africa, which was nominated for an Oscar.

Toured his choirs in almost all European countries in the Soviet Union, North and South America, Africa, Israel, Korea and Taiwan. These trips were often associated with lectures, workshops, radio or television productions. Many of these countries have mine invited in the wake of these trips as guest conductors for conducting master classes and choral workshops. In addition, he has worked as a judge at choral competitions in Germany, Hungary and Poland, but also the first international choral competition in the U.S. ( San Luis Obispo, California).

Because of the diplomatic impact of his work all over the world Christian Grube in 1995 awarded the Federal Cross of Merit First Class. After a labor-intensive, but also eventful period of service of nearly 27 years, which is the longest of all appointed in the last century Domchordirektoren, mine was retired in the fall of 1999.

As a professor emeritus of Christian Grube spends part of the year in Berlin, where he continued granted conducting classes at the University of Arts Berlin and its chamber choir leads. In addition, he holds Dirigierworkshops and acts as guest conductor in Europe and the United States. For the Barenreiter Verlag He writes for many years, reviews about new releases. The other part of the year he lives in the mountains of Santa Cruz ( California ), where he gives private conducting lessons. Since June 2006 he has been there also artistic director and conductor of the Santa Cruz Chorale.
