Christoph Brouwer

Christoph Brouwer ( born November 10, 1559 Arnhem, † June 2, 1617 in Trier, Latinized Christopher Brouwerus ) was a German Jesuit and historian.

Life

Christoph Brouwer was born on November 10, 1559 in Arnhem. On March 12, 1580 in Trier took him to the Jesuit order. He was from 1601 to 1613 director of the Jesuit College in Fulda, later he was transferred back to Trier. Also, he was there employed at the University of Trier as a philosophy professor. There he died on June 2, 1617 at the age of 59 years from gout.

In his major work, a history of the archbishopric of Trier, he has worked for 30 years. The work was in 1629, years after Brouwer's death, printed, but censored by the electors. Only in 1670 it was then published a significant change.
