Christopher Brookmyre

Christopher Brookmyre ( born September 6, 1968 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish novelist.

Life

After completing his 1989 study of English literature and theater at the University of Glasgow, he worked as a journalist in London, Los Angeles and Edinburgh. After three unsuccessful attempts, his first novel was published under the title Quite Ugly One Morning in 1996. Here the protagonist Jack Parlabane, the main character occurs in five of his books, first appearance. Parlabane is an investigative journalist, the limits of the permissible interpretation very much of his research.

All books by Brookmyre are thrillers that are seasoned with a lot of satire and black humor. They are less in the tradition of British crime writers, but rather are based on American models such as Carl Hiaasen. The plot often serve as a springboard for criticism of politics and society in Britain.

Christopher Brookmyre is married to an anesthesiologist and a fan of Scottish football club FC St. Mirren.
