Christopher D. Sullivan

Daniel Christopher " Christy " Sullivan (* July 14, 1870 in New York City; † August 3, 1942 ) was an American politician. Between 1917 and 1941 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Christopher Daniel Sullivan was born about five years after the end of the Civil War in New York City and grew up there. During this time he attended public schools, St. James Parochial School and St. Mary's Academy. In 1904 he went to real estate transactions. We chose him in 1906 to the Senate from New York and he was re-elected in 1908, 1910, 1912 and 1914, where he served until his resignation in 1916. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party.

In the congressional elections of 1916, for the 65th Congress Sullivan was in the 13th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of George W. Loft on March 4, 1917. As a Congressman he had presided over the Committee on Expenditures in the Department of Labor in this term. He was re-elected eleven times in a row. Since he gave up for reelection in 1940, he retired after January 3, 1941 from the Congress.

After his conference time he lived back in New York City, where he died on August 3, 1942. His body was buried at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside.
