Christopher Dewdney

Christopher Dewdney ( born May 9, 1951 in London, Ontario ) is a Canadian writer and poet.

Life

Christopher Dewdney was born in London, Ontario, and currently lives in Toronto, where he is a professor of English literature at York University. He has long been a partner of the novelist Barbara Gowdy. Winning the Harbourfront Festival Prize 2007 has published four monographs with non-fiction topics and eleven works of poetry. Four times nominated for the Governor General's Award, Dewdney won the first prize in the CBC Literary Competition for poetry. In 2005 his book Acquainted With The Night was: Excursions into the World After Dark translated both the Governor General's Award and The Charles Taylor Prize for literary non-fiction and nominated in seven languages.

Christopher Dewdney is the son of Canadian artist and author Selwyn Dewdney, brother of Alexander Keewatin Dewdney and the great-grandnephew of Edgar Dewdney (Vice Governor: British Columbia 1892-1897, North West Territories, 1881-1888 ). In addition, he was featured in the film Poetry in Motion.
