Christopher Lieven

Christoph Andreyevich Prince Lieven (Russian Христофор Андреевич Ливен, Christoph Heinrich, born May 6, 1774 Kiev, also: 1777; † January 10, 1839 in Rome) was a general of the Russian army and diplomat.

Christoph Heinrich von Lieven comes from the ancient Baltic Gender Lieven, which derives its origin from Kaupo, the last live prince. He was the first Secretary of War, 1809 envoy in Berlin, and from 1812 to 1834 in London, where he was very involved in the negotiations for the liberation of Greece and the separation of Belgium. He was then appointed curator of the Grand Duke Alexander. He died on January 10, 1839 in Rome.

He was married to Dorothea Princess Lieven (born of Benckendorff ), which played a prominent role in circles of diplomacy.
