Christopher McKay

Christopher P. McKay is a planetary scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. He is studying the atmospheres of planets, astrobiology and terraforming.

McKay received his PhD in the field of Astro Geophysics from the University of Colorado in 1982 and his bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University.

Survey

McKay led extensive research of planetary atmospheres, particularly through the Saturn 's moon Titan and Mars, and on the origin and development of life. He was involved in the planning of Cassini -Huygens, Mars Phoenix lander and the Mars Science Laboratory. In addition, he still did research in the area of extremophiles in places like Death Valley, the Atacama Desert, Axel Heiberg Iceland and the ice-covered lakes of Antarctica.

In addition to his professional work Christopher McKay is a member of the Board of Directors of the Planetary Society and is also working for the Mars Society, and as a consultant for Mars One. He has held detailed talks on space exploration and terraforming and also written about it.
