Chrysi (island)

Chrissi (Greek Χρυσή, the Golden ', also Chrisi or Chrissis ) is an uninhabited Greek island in the Libyan Sea. The less nice -sounding name of the small Eilands, Γαϊδαρονίσι ( Gaidaronísi, Donkey Island ') is more common among the locals, and as such, the island is also noted on some maps. The 5 km long and 1 km wide island is located about 15 km south of the Cretan town of Ierapetra. In the season Chrysi can be reached from there by tour boats several times a day, after a nearly hour-long crossing. Also from Myrtos, individual excursions are booked in Chrissi.

The flat and uninhabited island consists almost entirely of white calcareous sand and thus differs from the typical rock islands of the Aegean. The island has today no longer own water resources.

There are no sights, but very beautiful beaches. Accommodation is available not know the day and bathing tourists standing but at the summer season, two taverns available. The camping on the island is officially banned. Many of the visitors conduct Naturism, especially on the eastern section of the north coast.

Conservation
