Chuncheon-Marathon

The Chuncheon Marathon is a marathon in the South Korean city of Chuncheon, which is organized by the newspaper Chosun Ilbo.

History

The Erstaustragung took place in 1946 with 45 participants held on a shortened course (about 25 miles) with start and finish at the headquarters of the Chosun Ilbo in Seoul. The winner was in 1:29:24 h Suh Yun -bok, which it won the Boston Marathon in the year. Then the full distance of 42.195 km was run on August 9, 1947 First was Hong Jong- oh in 2:57:20.

Between 1950 and 1953 the race because of the Korean War fell out; since it was continuously discharged. 1957 won on a shortened 20 - km route Lee Chang- hoon, who won the marathon on the Asian Games in Tokyo in the year. Also, the winner of 1985, Kim Won- tak, brought as a result of gold at the Asian Games in 1990 in Beijing, and the winner in 1987, Kim Jae- ryong, was fourth at the World Athletics Championships in Stuttgart in 1993.

1991 was erected which now takes place in Chuncheon race by Kim Wan -ki with a South Korean record 2:11:02. 1995 took first international elite athletes participate.

Route

The circuit takes you around the lakes Uiam -ho -ho and Chuncheon in the west and north of the city.
