Features

The representatives are small, multi-stemmed palm trees. They are unarmed, several times a flourishing and hermaphrodite (rarely polygamo - dioecious ). The trunk is petite with medium strong, upright and curled with leaf scars.

Inflorescences

The genus Chuniophoenix is placed in the subfamily Coryphoideae, Tribe Chuniophoeniceae within the family Arecaceae. The genus is monophyletic. Their exact position within the tribe is still unclear.

The genus is named after the botanist WY Chun, Director of the Botanical Institute of Sun Yat-sen University in Canton, named.
