Chýnov

Chýnovská ( German Chejnow ) is a town of about 2,000 inhabitants in the region Jihočeský kraj (Czech Republic).

Location

The town is located about 10 km east of the county town of Tábor.

History

981 Chýnovská was first mentioned in Cosmas chronicle. Together with Doudleby ( Doudleby ) and Netolice ( Netolice ) it belonged to the dominion of the prince Slavnik and served the Slavnikiden same time as an outpost against attacks from Austria. After eradication of Slavíkovci the lands were transferred to the Přemyslids. The original fort was rebuilt in the 13th century in a Gothic castle, which belonged to the archbishopric of Prague at that time. In subsequent years, numerous noble families changed in the property, the last owners were the Black Mountain. The last major renovation in a baroque palace with a large English garden took place from 1729 to 1730.
