Cie Frazier

Josiah " Cie " Frazier ( born February 23, 1904 in New Orleans, † 10 January 1985) was an American drummer of Dixieland jazz.

Frazier in 1921 lessons with Louis Cottrell senior. For the first time in 1927, he took up with Papa Celestin; he was then a member of the orchestra of Armand J. Piron, before he performed his military service in the U.S. Navy, during which he played in dance bands. In 1945 he took on with Wooden Joe Nicholas, worked in the 1950s again with Celestin and Percy Humphrey. In his later years, he performed regularly at Preservation Hall and played with various local brass bands in New Orleans, such as the Young Tuxedo band, Emile Barnes 's Louisiana Joymakers, Kid Howard's La Vida band and the Eureka Brass Band. Frazier, who also played with Billie Pierce and Dede Pierce, Paul Barbarin and Sweet Emma Barrett, worked throughout his career in the field of jazz from 1927 to 1983 at 104 recording sessions with, inter alia, with George Lewis.
