Cillian Murphy

Cillian Murphy ( born May 25, 1976 in Douglas, County Cork) is an Irish actor and screenwriter.

Life and career

Cillian Murphy grew up as the oldest of four siblings on.

The international breakthrough as an actor succeeded Murphy in 2002 with the British apocalyptic horror film 28 Days Later, in which he played the male lead. A year later, he starred in the critically acclaimed Hollywood film Cold Mountain alongside Renée Zellweger and Jew Law.

2005 Murphy spoke in the movie Batman Begins for the role of Batman. Although the part eventually went to Christian Bale, but director Christopher Nolan was so impressed by Murphy's histrionic performance that he gave the actor with the piercing blue eyes, the role of Batman's opponent Scarecrow. Since then he has increasingly seen in lead roles. In 2006, he starred in the Golden Palm Award winner The Wind That Shakes the Barley by Ken Loach, which deals with Irish history. In 2008 he again took over the role of Dr. Jonathan Crane, in Nolan's film The Dark Knight, this had only a brief appearance. Also in 2008 he appeared in The Edge of Love as William Killick.

2010 Murphy starred in Nolan's science fiction thriller Inception alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. In 2011, he starred in In Time - Your time is running out with. In 2012 he joined for The Dark Knight Rises again in his role as Scarecrow. This film is Murphy's fourth collaboration with director Nolan.

Murphy is married to the artist Yvonne McGuinness since August 2004 and has two sons who were born in December 2005 and July 2007. The family lives in London.
