Cinobaňa

Cinobaňa ( until 1927 slovak " Cinobáňa " or " Synobáňa "; Hungarian Szinóbánya ) is a town in central Slovakia.

Location

It is located in the Stolické Hills on Cinobaňa -Bach ( Cinobanský Potok ), 12 km from Poltár and 16 km from Lučenec.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1279 as a villa Suine.

To the municipality next to the main village belongs also the place Turičky (1971 incorporated ) and the municipality of parts Hrnčiarky, Katarínska Huta, Masa and Žihľava.

The community part Turičky is one of the possible birthplaces of the Slovak mathematician and cartographer Samuel Mikoviny (* 1686).
