CIR Group

CIR ( Compagnie Industriali Riunite ) SpA is an Italian industrial holding company; which is controlled by the family De Benedetti.

History

Portfolio

CIR is a pure holding company which does not interfere with the daily operations of its subsidiaries. The portfolio is intended to include a mix of high-margin, high-growth investments.

The current portfolio of CIR is now divided into five segments: Utilities, Media, Automotive Components, Healthcare and Financial Services, which are managed by sub- holding companies.

With a turnover of 2.4 billion euros (2008 ) of the Utilities section contributes the largest part of Group sales, followed by Media and Automotive Components, each with a billion.

Utilities

The Utilities section holds a 54.1 % stake in Sorgenia, the biggest founded after the deregulation of the market energy companies in Italy.

Media

The field of media holds a stake of 54.8 % of Gruppo Editoriale L' Espresso, which includes, among others, the newspaper La Repubblica, the magazine L'Espresso, 16 local newspapers and the radio station Radio Deejay, Radio Capital and m2o.

Automotive Components

The stock is listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.

Principal owner is cofide ( Compagnia Finanziaria De Benedetti ), which owns 45.5% of shares, 37.3 % are in free float. Cofide is the financial holding company of the De Benedetti family and also listed on the Milan Stock Exchange.
