Circe chess

Circe is a popular in chess composition chess variant, invented in 1967 by Pierre Monreal and a year later published by him and Jean -Pierre Boyer. Boyer was the first chess variant " les échecs renaissants " ( " rebirth chess " ) call, but Monreals name prevailed.

When Circe beaten stones are born again, so on her rebirth field in chess composition commonly called original box, reinstated. The rebirth field is determined by two selling points and does not have to match the original game initial field, although it is based on this. The King is exempt from rebirth.

As Circe can result in chess games games too long, it is often associated with progressive chess, whereby the number of moves is increased.

Definition of the source field

  • Ladies are born again on the d1 (white) and d8 ( Black) box
  • Towers, bishop and knight are reborn on the field that corresponds to their field color in the basic position
  • Farmers to be born again on the same line on the second (white) and seventh ( Black) series

It is not possible to hit a stone, which would provide chess after rebirth. Reincarnated stones are treated as if they had not pulled. So a farmer can again perform the double step and a born-again tower for castling are used.

Variants (selection)

  • Anti Circe: The striking stone (also King ), but not the captured piece is reborn. A strike is only possible if the rebirth field of the beating stone is free. A distinction is made between type Calvet, in which blows are allowed on the rebirth field, and type Cheylan same with the prohibition. Farmers convert before regeneration, when they reach the transition series. A king may capture the opponent's king even when his rebirth field is attacked, although this would be an illegal self- chess with other shocks.
  • Circé Assassin: If the rebirth square is occupied, the stone is removed on the field rebirth and rebirth is made.
  • Circe Couscous: The captured piece is reborn on the rebirth of the beating field stone.
  • Circe inclusive rex: The King is reborn.
  • File Circe: The captured piece is reborn on the same row.
  • Kamikaze Circe: The beating and the chipped stone be reborn.
  • Mars Circe: Percussive stones are reborn before the beat, so they can strike only from their rebirth field. Captured stones disappear.
  • Para Circe: How the Anti Circe is reborn the beating instead of the beaten stone. However, there are shocks permitted, even with busy rebirth field and the king can not be beat.
  • Place exchange Circe: The captured piece is reborn on the field on which the striking stone stood before. Kings are usually not born again.
  • Mirror Circe: Captured stones are reborn on the opponent at Circe rebirth field.
  • Super Circe: The rebirth is possible on any open field, but can also be omitted.
