Citroën C3

The Citroën C3 is a supermini car produced by the French manufacturer Citroën.

The C3 was introduced in April 2002 as a successor to the five-door Citroen Saxo. The smaller Citroën C2 was only three doors available and replaces the equal -equipped Saxo.

Citroen C3 ( 2002-2005)

After Jean -Pierre Ploué was appointed director of the Citroën design center in 2000, he left the C3 under the direction of Donato Coco design, who was already responsible for the Citroën Xsara Picasso.

The C3 was released in April 2002 as the first representative based on the PF1 platform of the PSA group, followed later the models Citroën C2, Citroën C3 Pluriel, Peugeot 1007, Peugeot 207 and Citroën C3 Picasso created.

In July 2003, the C3 Pluriel was added to the model range, which can be used as a pick, as a closed car or as a convertible.

Another variant of the C3 is designated as X -TR terrain version with higher -laid chassis, large black plastic trim and special interior trim. She came in the summer of 2004 on the market.

Facelift

In October 2005, the series has undergone a facelift, were revised at the front end, rear lights, dashboard and digital speedometer.

The 66- kW - HDi engine was replaced by an engine with 80 kW, and there were now a so-called bivalent version with 54 kW ( in gas mode: 49 kW ) that can be run on both gasoline and natural gas. An optional start-stop system for the 65 kW motor with SensoDrive transmission was introduced ( Stop & Start ).

Range of engines

All models have a standard 5 -speed manual transmission. The gasoline engine with 65 - and 80 - kW motor and 50 kW diesel engine could also be equipped with the automated five -speed manual transmission * SensoDrive.

Citroen C3 ( 2009-2013)

The introduction of the second generation of the C3 was held in November 2009.

Through this model, and the estimates based on the previous DS3 C3 and C2 were replaced. The new C3 will be offered only as a five-door hatchback and has grown compared to its predecessor in length, width and height. The weight has also increased slightly. The luggage compartment is 300 liters with just below that of the predecessor. The C3 was in the NCAP crash test four stars.

The car has an electric power steering with speed-dependent power steering, ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes on the rear axle. The models VTi 120 and HDi 110 FAP are fitted on the rear axle with disc brakes. A striking design feature is the roof pulled far into the windshield, with which is not part of the standard equipment.

A variation on the same basis is the minivan C3 Picasso.

Facelift

As part of the facelift, which was presented in March 2013 at the Geneva Motor Show, the C3 received a new bumper and a redesigned grille. The logo has been revised and now takes place in the form of a chrome clasp up to the headlights. On request, LED daytime running lights is offered. Furthermore, the graphic was redesigned taillights. On the technical side, the engines have been optimized with respect to the consumption and introduced new engines.

The launch took place in April 2013.

Range of engines

An automatic transmission is optionally available for the VTi 120. The e-HDi 70 Airdream is available with an automated manual transmission ( EGS5 ). The HDi 110 FAP receives a six-speed manual transmission. All other models get a five-speed manual transmission.

The diesel engines operate on the Common Rail principle and have variable geometry turbocharger.

All engines are classified in the class EURO 5. In November 2012, the last built in the C3 engines were detached from the PSA TU- family with more modern units.

Equipment

The basic equipment variant Attraction include front side airbags, electric front windows, ABS, trip computer and a height-adjustable driver's seat. Rear seat and backrest are split asymmetrically folded down.

From the mid-level equipment line Tendance air conditioning with manual control and a radio with MP3 and CD player are also included. Cruise control and curtain airbags are also standard here.

In the highest trim level exclusive air conditioning is controlled fully automatically. The interior includes a center armrest and front power windows rear. The exterior decoration also offers 16- inch alloy wheels, fog lamps and rear parking sensors.

Since early 2011, there is also still the Selection called special model.
