City Botanic Gardens

The Brisbane City Botanic Gardens are located in the southeast of the peninsula of the Brisbane River, on which the Central Business District of Brisbane is located. The park is located at the Alice Street and George Street.

The Brisbane City Botanic Gardens were established in 1855 and cover an area of about 20 hectares. The park is bordered on one side by the Brisbane River and on the other side from the Parliament House and the Gardens Point campus of the Queensland University of Technology. The special features of the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens is one of a remarkable collection of cycads, palms, figs and bamboo. Some of the older trees are the first of their kind, which were transplanted in Australia. The park is also home to numerous botanical rarities.
