City Circle Line

Cityringen ( German as: "Urban Ring Line " ) is a planned extension of the Copenhagen Metro. It should be driven by the metro lines M3 and M4. The plans were approved by the Danish Parliament on 1 June 2007.

Construction began in 2009 and continue till 2018. The cost is estimated at 15 billion kronor ( equivalent to about 2 billion euros).

History and Stations

The line will consist of 17 stations. You should cut the existing metro network at the stations Kongens Nytorv and Frederiksberg, there crossing stations will be built around transfers between lines M1/M2 and M3/M4 lines allow. The construction of the Copenhagen Central Station gets first time, a connection to the city's metro system.

There were two proposals on the route of the line. In December 2005, the cities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg opted for the " Frederiksberg route" that crosses the existing metro network at the station Frederiksberg. In the other route planning the crossing should occur at the station forum. This route was chosen because it makes hardly overlaps with the already developed by S -tog and Metro areas.

Lines

The route to be traveled by the new lines M3 and M4. This will use the same path, the M3 has to travel across the entire ring, the M4 only slightly more than half. The M4 is to travel from Copenhagen Central Station to station Nørrebro, effectively serve as an amplifier line on the busy stretch of road.

Stations

The names of the stations have not yet been officially confirmed. However, they should all occur at the specified location or nearby and are also expected to carry this name. The stations are listed counter-clockwise, starting in the southwest.

The official website of the Copenhagen Metro titled the planned stations as follows:

  • Copenhagen Central Station ( transit traffic to the S -tog and the lines of the DSB)
  • City Hall Square
  • Gammel beach
