Civilian Power

Citizens force (Russian Гражданская сила / Grazhdanskaya sila ) was a liberal political party in Russia. It was founded in 2004 and became in 2007 the first time participate in the elections to the Russian parliament. In 2008 she joined with two other parties to the new liberal party " Right Cause ".

The party was founded in 2004 initially under the name of Free Russia (Russian Свободная Россия ) and declared in particular the representation of small and medium-sized enterprises to their primary target. On 8 October 2006, the party could take the seven percent hurdle in the elections in the Novgorod Oblast and thus move into the local regional parliament. In February 2007, Free Russia named in civil force to with the intention to set up their own candidates in the Duma elections.

The last party chairman was the famous Russian lawyer Mikhail Barschtschewski (* 1955), at the same time authorized representatives of the Russian government in the Constitutional Court, High Court and Superior Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation.

Member of the party is the well-known children's author Eduard Uspensky (* 1937).
