Clara Mannes

Clara man ( born Damrosch, born December 12, 1869 in Breslau, † March 16, 1947 in New York City ) was a pianist and music teacher.

Life

The daughter of the conductor Leopold Damrosch and sister of Walter and Frank Damrosch received his first piano lessons in New York. She studied piano with Hermann Scholtz in Dresden and music theory with Johannes Schreyer. 1897 she took lessons with Ferruccio Busoni in Berlin.

1898 she married the violinist David the man with whom she performed until the mid-1920s as a man duo in the USA. In 1916 she opened with her husband, the Mannes School of Music. Here she worked until her death in the Department of ensemble playing and taught chamber music.

After the death of David and Clara man her son Leopold Damrosch took over the man management of the school.
