Clara Reeve

Clara Reeve (* 1729 in Ipswich, † December 3, 1807 ibid ) was a British novelist, who wrote in the style of the Gothic Novel.

Life

Reeve published in 1777 under the influence of Horace Walpole's works their debut The champion of virtue. As further examples Samuel Richardson and Henry Mackenzie are mentioned. Your two-volume work, The progress of romance ( 1785), was a study of the genre of the novel. On December 3, 1807 Clara Reeve died in Ipswich.
