Claressa Shields

Claressa Shields ( born March 17, 1995, Flint, Michigan) is an American boxer. It was 2012 Olympic champion in the middleweight ( 75 kg ).

Career

Claressa Shields began at the age of eleven years in Flint with the boxes for which it was animated by her father Bo, who was detained during most of the childhood of Claressa in a prison and there came to boxing. The physically very strong Claressa Shields erboxte in 2011 by winning several national boxing tournaments, the attention of the U.S. boxing association. She started there in the weight class up to 75 kg and came there with wins over the top female boxers Franchon Crews ( 31:19 ), Andrecia Wasson, the World Champion from 2010 ( 31:12 ) and Chatiqua Hemingway, against which they had to fight twice and they defeated twice ( 23:15 and 23:18 ), the 1st place.

She was then the Pan American Championship 2012 in Cornwall (Ontario), seconded. There they defeated Roselli Feitosa, Brazil ( 29:11 ) and the multiple world champion Mary Spencer of Canada ( 27:14 ) convincingly on points and won this item. In May 2012, she was also at the World Championships in Qinhuangdao, China, at the start. She won there in the middleweight division over Pooja Rani from India ( 27:10 ) convincingly on points, but then suffered their first defeat as a boxer in the fight against Savannah Marshall of England. You lost with 8:14 hits. She dropped out of it, and got only to 17th place.

At just 17, she then went to the Olympic Games in London. She defeated there, the experienced and successful female boxers Anna Laurell of Sweden ( 18:14 ), Marina Wolnowa, Kazakhstan and Nadezhda Torlopowa from Russia and was so sensationally Olympic champion. The final battle was there until her 27th fight and her 26th victory.

In February 2013 Claressa Shields won in Lansing ( Michigan) in a rematch of the Pan American Championship of 2012 on Mary Spencer on points ( 4-1 judges' votes ). At the U.S. Championship in 2013 in Spokane Claressa could not attend due to a rule change by the International Amateur Boxing Association AIBA, because she was too young for it now! She had to compete in the youth class and there was a fight USA champion because no respondent found that wanted to compete against the Olympic champion. Also at the Pan American Championships in 2013 they could not participate because of their young age.
