Clarksburg AVA

Clarksburg AVA ( recognized since 23 January 1984) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area extends within the Sacramento Valley on the three administrative areas of Sacramento County, Solano County and Yolo County. The area is located near the town of Clarksburg. The soils are heavy. They consist of dense limestone and clay soils and thus have a cooling effect. Fog and ocean breezes of San Francisco Bay provide a comparison with the Sacramento relatively cool climate. 90 % of Rebernte are not processed locally but distributed over large cellars of the surrounding countryside, as despite the size of the stocked wine fields hardly wineries in the Clarksburg AVA are (slightly more than the German wine-growing region Rheingau still) available.
