Claude Pronovost

Claude Pronovost ( born July 22, 1935 in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played in his time from 1952 to 1963 among others for the Boston Bruins and Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League. His brothers Jean and Marcel were also professional hockey players.

Career

Claude Pronovost began his career as a hockey player with the Cataractes de Shawinigan, for which he gave his debut in the Quebec Senior Hockey League in the season 1952/53. In the season 1953/54, the goalkeeper played for the youth teams Montreal Jr. Royals and Kitchener Green Shirts. The following season he joined the junior team Montreal Canadiens Jr. and finished it at senior level in the Quebec Hockey League at the Sagueneens de Chicoutimi. From 1955 to 1959 he was a regular at the Montreal Royals in the Quebec Hockey League between the posts. During the same period, however, he also came to operations for the Boston Bruins and Canadiens de Montréal, where he ran aground in a total of three games in the National Hockey League. In the Quebec Hockey League, he also played for the Sagueneens de Chicoutimi and Shawinigan Cataractes de and in the Western Hockey League for the Edmonton Flyers. In the season 1958/59 he was elected to the first All -Star team of the Quebec Hockey League and was awarded the Vezina Memorial Trophy as the best goalkeeper in the league.

In the 1959/60 season Pronovost joined in for the Calgary Stampeders of the Western Hockey League. In the following three years he was in each case during the season for his former club Montreal Royals and the North Bay Trappers and Hull- Ottawa Canadiens in the Eastern Professional Hockey League between the posts. He then finished his career at the age of 28 years.
