Claude Vasconi

Claude Vasconi (* June 24, 1940 in Rosheim, Alsace, † December 8, 2009 in Paris) was a French architect.

Life

Claude Vasconi studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries ( ENSAIS ) de Strasbourg in Strasbourg and was assistant Rolf Gutbrod and Frei Otto in Stuttgart. In 1964 he opened his own office in Paris. He became famous with the project Prefecture in Cergy -Pontoise (1969 ) and won the Urban Design Competition of Le Forum des Halles ( 1973-1979 ) in Paris. He became internationally known with the 1979 with the project " Auto Renault " at the headquarters of Renault in the industrial city of Boulogne- Billancourt, of which, however, was only implemented the "Project 57 ", metal processing factory. This was followed by construction projects such as the opera and congress center " Corum " in Montpellier, the congress center in Reims and the Court in Grenoble.

From 1990, he worked increasingly in Germany, in 1997 he founded Claude Vasconi & Partner Architekten in Berlin. He realized the halls at Borsig Tower (1994 to 1999), the office building in Dusseldorf Grand Bateau ( 1999) and the "Quartier 30" on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt.

Vasconi taught in Montellier and was a visiting professor in Montreal and at the International Academy of Architecture (IAA ) in Sofia / Bulgaria. For his extensive work he has been honored several times, including in 1982 the Grand Prix National de l'architecture for the " Auto Renault " and in 1996 an honorary membership in the Association of German Architects (BDA). Vasconi was a member of the " Académie d'Architecture " since 1991. In 2008 he was appointed Commander of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
