Claude Williamson

Claude Berkeley Williamson ( born November 18, 1926 in Brattleboro, Vermont) is an American jazz pianist of the swing and modern jazz.

Life and work

Williamson played a seven year old piano and spent three years, the New England Conservatory in Boston, in 1947, a professional musician with Charlie Barnet and later played along with Tom Talbert, Red Norvo 1948, Barnet 1949 June Christy 1950-51, in Bud Shanks quartet and a private Trio. With Shank and Bob Cooper in the spring of 1958 he visited Europe. His highly oriented to Bud Powell game is on recordings with Barnet ( Claude Reigns; 1949), Bob Cooper, Tal Farlow, Barney Kessel, Howard Rumsey the Lighthouse All Stars, Art Pepper, Bud Shank, Stu Williamson, among others to hear.

1968 Williamson worked for the broadcaster NBC, where he played for, among others, Andy Williams and Sonny & Cher. In 1978 he returned to jazz and took several albums on Japanese label with bassist Sam Brown and drummer Roy Haynes on.

Claude Williamson is the older brother of Stu Williamson ( 1933-1991 ).
