Claudin de Sermisy

Claudin de Sermisy (* around 1495 in France, † 1562 in Paris) was a French singer, composer, conductor and clergyman.

Claudin de Sermisy appeared in 1508 as a choirboy at the Sainte -Chapelle in Paris, a singer in the Royal Chapel of Louis XII as he. was appointed. Together with Francis I in 1515, he traveled to Italy and accompany the army in 1520, when Francis and Henry VIII clashed. From 1530 he directed the choir of the Sainte -Chapelle as " sous- maître ", in 1533 he became canon and received here in 1547 with Louis Hérault de Servissas the position of Kapellmeister.

Claudin de Sermisy published three books motets, eleven fairs and a passion, but was best known for the 160 songs that appeared in numerous anthologies.

He is the creator of the song melody of the hymn What my God willing, the always g'scheh (EC 364).
