Claus Kreul

Claus Kreul ( born May 26, 1944 in Erlbach in Vogtland) was soccer player in the DDR Oberliga for FC Karl- Marx-Stadt and bismuth Aue, later coach at various DDR - Oberliga teams.

Sports career

Soccer player

Claus Kreul played from 1955 to 1963 at the BSG Traktor Erlbach and then moved to Oberliga FC Karl -Marx-Stadt. On 30 May 1965 the 24th matchday of the league, he played at right back for the first time a game in the highest DDR game class. The 1.72 m wide defender won with the FCK 1967, the East German championship, but completed only nine of the 26 point games. Until his retirement in Karl- Marx-Stadt, he was employed during six seasons in 51 league games, plus two European games. At the beginning of the season 1969/70 Kreul moved to the district rivals bismuth floodplain. By the end of his active career in 1972 he came there again on 33 Oberliga inserts, so it can have a total of 84 league games. As -budgetary defender, he scored his league -time two -point Goals for FC Karl- Marx-Stadt.

Coach

In the aftermath Kreul worked, trained woodwind makers and designed as a qualified sports teacher, as a football coach. His first stop was the second division bismuth Gera, but he could not help hoping for a long Oberliga rise in the 1975/76 season. In the summer of 1976 Kreul took over the league relegated Energie Cottbus, but could there not be realized, the goal comeback in two years.

Nevertheless, he got the chance to train with the 1st FC Magdeburg for the first time a league team in spring 1982. He took over the team during the current season after the 18th Round as a successor to the dismissed Klaus Urbanczyk. But he could not bring as hoped in the top tier of league FCM so that the Magdeburg were not represented in the European Cup for the first time after ten years. The league season 1982/83 was no better for the club, as in the previous year only sixth place was reached. In the GDR Cup competition Kreul however, succeeded 1.FC Magdeburg to lead to his seventh Cup win. After two more seasons with each fifth league places Kreuls activity in Magdeburg after completion of the 1984/85 season has ended.

In the summer of 1985 Kreul took over the Oberliga FC Hansa Rostock as a coach. After a 10th place in the previous season, the goal could be just the league. This was not, according to the 1985/86 season was Hansa relegated firmly, and Kreul was replaced after one season by Werner Voigt. Kreul were often outdated training methods accused, who were dominated by hard condition units. Following Kreul worked for the DFV.
