Clearwater River (British Columbia)

Bailey's Chute in Wells Gray Provincial Park

The Clearwater River ( English for " clear water river ") is a right tributary of the North Thompson River in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The river runs except the last 5 km entirely within the Wells Gray Provincial Park.

The Clearwater River rises on the northeast flank of Mount Goodall in the Cariboo Mountains. It flows north of the mountain and then turns to the south. It flows through the two lakes Hobson Lake and Clearwater Lake. Later, the Clearwater River takes on the Murtle River from the left and the right of Mahood River and finally reached at Clearwater the westward flowing North Thompson River. At the mouth area is the small North Thompson River Provincial Park. The Clearwater River has a length of about 160 km.
