Clematoclethra

Clematoclethra scandens is a species of the family of rays stylus plants ( Actinidiaceae ) and the only member of the genus. It is native to China.

Description

Clematoclethra scandens is a climbing, deciduous, woody plant. The inflorescence is a single flower or a up to zwölfblütige Zyme. The flower is hermaphrodite or unisexual. The sepals are fused at the base, the petals white or reddish. There are around ten to thirty stamens, their filaments are broad at the base, the anthers open lengthwise.

The ovary is round, five -edged and has five, sometimes four compartments with numerous ovules on. The style is simple and not obsolete, swelled the small scar. The fruit is blackish and beer similar. About the pollination is not known, insects are suspected. Crystal sand has been demonstrated.

Dissemination

Clematoclethra scandens can be found in the undergrowth of mountain forests above 1000 up to 3100 meters in western and central China.

Systematics and Botanical History

Clematoclethra scandens is the only species of its genus, other described species such as Clematoclethra lasioclada be synonymized today.
