Clemens Baeumker

Clemens BÄUMKER ( born September 16, 1853 in Paderborn, † October 7, 1924 in Munich) was a German Catholic philosopher and historian of philosophy.

Life

Clemens BÄUMKER put 1872 his Abitur at the Gymnasium in Paderborn from Theodorianum and then studied at the University of Paderborn and later at the University of Münster philosophy, theology and philology. From 1879 he worked as a teacher in Münster. As Georg von Hertling had used for him, he could take over in 1883 at the University of Breslau the chair of philosophy. In 1900 he was appointed to the University of Bonn, in 1903, he took over the chair of Wilhelm diaper band at the University of Strasbourg. From 1912 on he taught in Munich as successor to Georg von Hertling.

BÄUMKER founded in 1891, published in Munster Series Contributions to the history of the philosophy of the Middle Ages (as of 1928/1930 contributions to the history of philosophy and theology of the Middle Ages ). He was an honorary member of the Catholic fraternities Unitas Wroclaw, Arminia Bonn and Munich Ottonia, all in CT.
