Clifford Victor Johnson

Clifford Victor Johnson ( born March 5, 1968 in London ) is a British theoretical physicist who deals with string theory, black holes, quantum gravity and related fields. He is a professor at the University of Southern California.

Johnson studied at the Imperial College London with a Bachelor 's degree in 1989 and 1992 at the University of Southampton PhD ( Tim Morris). As a post - graduate student, he was until 1994 at the Institute for Advanced Study and then at the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of California, Santa Barbara. From 1995 he was assistant professor at the University of Kentucky and in 2003 professor at the University of Southern California.

He is a scientific consultant for the Discovery Channel and worked in several documentaries, including The Universe (2007 ), with. Johnson founded the African Summer Theory Institute ( ASTI ), a month-long conference each at different locations in Africa, in 2004 it was held in Cape Town.

From him comes a standard work on D- brane.

In 2005 he was awarded the Maxwell Medal and in 1997 a National Science Foundation Career Award.
