Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata

Club de Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata is an Argentine sports club from the city of La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires. The club was founded on June 3, 1887. First, its members devoted themselves to the fencing ( esgrima ) and the gym ( gimnasia ), of which the name derives, which the club still carries today. The football division, which dominates the club operating arrived today, added later. Achievements

In 1929 the club won its first title and his second and last in 1994; Copa Centenario. Gimnasia was vice-champion in 1924, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2002 and 2005 and took part in several times the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana, but unsuccessfully.
