Club Xelajú MC

Club Social y Deportivo Xelajú Mario Campo Seco, mostly shortened as Club Xelajú MC or referred to in the shortest form as Xela, is a Guatemalan football club from the city of Quetzaltenango, which is also known as the Mayan name Xelajú.

History

Creation and club name

The club was founded in 1928 under the name Germania and renamed Asociación Deportiva Independiente de 1942 in Xelajú ( ADIX ). With the suffix recorded in 1952, the club honors his former player Mario Campo Seco, who is regarded as the best player in the club's history and 1951 in a plane crash was killed.

Achievements at national level

In the season 1957/58 Xelajú won the championship of the second league and entered the first time in the top flight. Already in its fourth Erstligasaison 1961/62 won Xelajú for the first time, the Guatemalan football championship.
