Zilizische saffron ( Colchicum cilicicum )

The Zilizische saffron ( Colchicum cilicicum ) is a flowering plant in the genus of the Timeless ( Colchicum ) in the family of crocus plants ( Colchicaceae ).

Features

The Zilizische Timeless is a perennial bulbous plant, which reaches stature heights 10 to 28 inches. The leaves measure 30 to 40 × 5.5 to 7 (rarely 4 to 11.5 ) centimeters. They are erect, elliptic to lanceolate, obtuse and appear soon after flowering. There are 3 to 25 flowers available. The Perigonzipfel often have only a faint checkerboard pattern. They are pale lilac to deep purple purple pink, hairy along the stamens channels and measure 50 to 75 (rarely from 40 ) × 12 to 25 millimeters. The anthers are yellow. The stylus is usually longer than the perianth. The scars are point-like and run less than 1.5 millimeters down to the pencils.

The flowering period extends from August to September, rarely to October.

Occurrence

The Zilizische Timeless comes in southern Turkey (without the east), in Syria and in Lebanon ( ie in ancient Cilicia and west and south of it ) on rocky slopes, on stream banks, in oak and pine forests, and between limestone blocks at altitudes 35-1980 meters in front.

Use

The Zilizische Timeless scattered used as an ornamental plant in lawns, woodland edges and discounts. It is in culture at least since 1571.
