Collins (crater)

Collins is a small impact crater in the southern part of Mare Tranquillitatis, to the east of the crater Sabine. It is located about 25 kilometers north of the landing site of Apollo 11 landing site of the lunar probe Surveyor 5 is 15 kilometers west- north-westerly direction.

Named after Michael Collins, the pilot of the command module Columbia the Apollo 11 mission, he is the medium in a series of three craters that were named in honor of the crew of Apollo 11.

Before the renaming by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU ), he was known as Sabine D.
