Cologne (Minnesota)

Cologne (Minnesota) is a city in Carver County in the U.S. state of Minnesota, which was named by its German founders after the city of Cologne.

History

Among the first settlers in this area belonged to Cologne Gerhard Lülsdorf ( born April 25, 1827 in Cologne), who emigrated in 1853. As the founder of Cologne applies Paul Mohrbacher ( born March 6, 1847 in Sand / Kusel, February 1, 1935 in Cologne ). He was baptized on 7 March 1847 in Kübelberg, came on June 26, 1856 to parents with the ship in New York and was reported in the 1860 census with his parents in nearby Benton. Location and Transport

Cologne is part of Benton Township ( community association ), which in turn is part of Carver County. The town is located 46 km ( 28.6 miles ) southwest of Minneapolis, on the main route of " Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ", which was inaugurated between Chicago and the West in 1909.
