Commerce Court

The Commerce Court is a building complex consists of four high-rise office buildings and is located in the financial district of Toronto in Canada. Owner of the complex is the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce ( CIBC ).

History

The first office building, also known as Commerce Court North, was built in 1930 and served as headquarters for the Canadian Bank of Commerce. The building has 34 floors. Was commissioned the architects of Pearson and Darling and York and Sawyer.

1972 three more buildings were built. The Commerce Court West was designed by architects Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. It has 57 floors and was the tallest building in Canada's 1972 until 1976. Thereupon followed the Commerce Court East with 13 floors and the Commerce Court South with 5 storeys.

In 1994, the architect of Zeidler Partnership Architects were commissioned to renovate buildings that fundamentally.
