Compatil

Linotype Compatil is a font family with 16 weights, which is composed of the following four families:

  • Linotype Compatil Exquisit
  • Linotype Compatil Fact
  • Linotype Compatil Letter
  • Linotype Compatil Text

On the development of the Linotype Compatil ( 1999-2000 ) Silja Bilz, Prof. Reinhard House, Erik Faulhaber and Prof. Olaf Leu were involved.

The Linotype Compatil Fact is a redesign. The Linotype Compatil Exquisit originated from Scripture Guardi, the Linotype Compatil Letter from Scripture LinoLetter and the Linotype Compatil text from the font Linotype Centennial.

In 2005, the families of the Linotype Compatil were supplemented by true italics cuts.

Main features

  • Absolutely uniform walking distance of the individual families that allows interchangeability without changing the type area.
  • Tabular figures, for the best possible readability, eg in annual reports.
