Usually such leases under considerable political and / or military pressure or even violence took place. It was provided that on the lessor side at least reasonably intact state existed. Otherwise, it came on the part of the receiving State to the annexation or in an area without government structure or with a state structure, although not recognized the receiving State, a colony was founded. In general, the leases were limited in time and the lease end state assumed sovereignty in the lease area completely. Occasion to acquire such leasehold was usually a military base or a commercial establishment under its own sovereignty, far away to start from its own territory. Were managed tenements usually as a colony: So you were against other states as domestic end of lease state, compared to the domestic end of lease state but as abroad. Especially against China this form of sovereignty takeover of European colonial powers was practiced in the late 19th century.
