Concorde (Paris Métro)

Concorde is a metro station in the French capital, Paris, on the border between the 1st district, the 8th arrondissement below the Place de la Concorde. It is operated by the metro lines 1, 8 and 12.

History

The station is one of the oldest of the Paris network and was subsequently opened about a month after commissioning of the line 1 on August 13, 1900. Line A of the Compagnie Nord Sud (now line 12) followed on 5 November 1910 Line 8 on March 12, 1914.

The station of the line 12 is provided with a unique in Paris Decor: Small white ceramic plates, each with a blue letters are strung together the text of the Declaration of Human and Civil Rights ( Déclaration of the Droits de l' Homme et du Citoyen ) from August 26, 1789.

Attractions

  • Above the station, the Place de la Concorde is at the Hôtel de Crillon and the American Embassy.
  • To the west, here begins the Avenue des Champs- Élysées.
  • To the west runs above the Rue de Rivoli.
  • At the eastern end of the Jardin des Tuileries is with the gallery nationale du Jeu de Paume and the Musée de l' Orangerie.
  • To the south, opens the space to the Seine where the Pont de la Concorde and the Assemblée are national.
