Conestoga wagon

The Conestoga Wagon ( German Conestoga wagons) or Prairie Schooner was drawn by horses, mules or oxen, which was built by German immigrants in Pennsylvania at the time of the colonial period in the United States. The car is the classic wagon, known from numerous Western.

History

The Germans, who in 1751 settled in near the Conestoga Indians, their settlement called first Conestoga. Later, the city was renamed in Lancaster. They developed from the farm wagons known from the Conestoga Wagon Germany. It was a means of transport which prevail at that time contributed to colonize especially the western parts of North America.
